Blue Stag is now Everglow! Read the rebrand story

Elon Musk sits calmly in an armchair surrounded by cartoon flames, with a speech bubble saying THIS IS FINE. A coffee mug with the X logo is on a table nearby.

Why we’re saying “Byeeeee!” to X

When this was published, we were Blue Stag. Today we’re Everglow ✨ Read the rebrand story

At Blue Stag, our decisions are guided by our values. Whether it’s the work we create, the clients we collaborate with, or the platforms we use, we aim to align every choice with our principles.

X, when it was Twitter, at least, seemed like a place full of constructive conversations, creative inspiration and primarily happy people.

It became a great tool for connecting and sharing ideas with freelancers, clients, and friends. Over the years, it has helped our agency grow. We built up a following of 2000+ followers.

But lately? It’s like showing up to a nightclub only to find the floor’s sticky, the music’s terrible and everyone’s shouting conspiracy theories at each other.

From the platform’s handling of hate speech and spreading misinformation to its questionable leadership decisions, X has taken a nose dive.

Put simply, the platform’s values, or lack thereof, no longer align with ours.

We discussed it internally, and everyone agreed it was time to pack it in and move away from X. This isn’t about making a grand gesture. It’s about doing what feels right. The ethical challenges surrounding X have become increasingly difficult to ignore.

We’re not the first to make this move. Many have done so with many more followers and much more to lose. Organisations like The Guardian, Race Equality Foundation, and ACEVO dropped X, citing similar concerns about the platform’s ethical standing.

When so many respected voices take a step back, it signals a broader shift in how organisations evaluate online presence.

For us, it’s about leading by example. We can’t claim to advocate for positive change while supporting a platform that increasingly feels at odds with the values we champion.

So we’ll be hanging out on Instagram, LinkedIn, and here on our blog. Places that feel more aligned with what we’re about. These are spaces where we can share our work, connect with you lovely lot, and skip the doomscrolling.
